How to assign prisoners to canteens? ›

In the Food Distribution view of the Logistics menu, you can assign which kitchens should serve which canteens and nurseries, and which canteens should serve which cell blocks. This can be used to distribute the prisoners over various canteens nicely without having masses of them all at the same place.

To make prisoners work, assign them to one of the following rooms using the jobs tab in the Logistics view. During work time (scheduled in Regime) they will make their way to the assigned room and begin the described work. No jobs will be assigned automatically only due to the existence of the rooms.

To assign prisoners to work here, use the Prison Labour section of the Logistics view. The Cleaning Cupboard is available after you research Cleaning from Bureaucracy. To assign prisoners to work, you will also need to research Prison Labour.

So you need 1 Serving table for 40 prisoners on low and medium quantity or 1 for 26 prisoners on high quantity. A Kitchen can be placed outside of the area where prisoners are allowed or marked as staff only in the deployment overlay. This will greatly reduce the chance of prisoners stealing something.

Prisoners can be assigned to cleaning work in the logistics ->Prison Labour menu. Consider adding Dog Patrol nearby as the Cleaning Cupboard is also a source for contraband. Locking the rooms to certain security sectors in the deployment screen will only allow prisoner said security level to work in the Cupboard.

There is, supposedly, a nationally agreed list but various prisons set out their own rules. The national list is limited to what can be kept, e.g. no more than 3 pairs of shoes including trainers, 9 outside tops but no football/rugby shirts etc and obviously excludes any item which could be deemed to offensive.
